Pilates Fitness. Vitality. Way of Life.
Today, over 10 million Americans practice Pilates, and the numbers continue to grow. Pilates exercises stretch and strengthen the entire body while developing the abdominals and other muscle groups at the same time. I
I’ve taken group classes, what’s different about private lessons?
Unlike group mat classes, private sessions encompasses working on specialized Pilates equipment including: the reformer, wunda chair, high chair, ladder barrel, cadillac, spine corrector or the TRX training Suspension Unit. This grouping of equipment and techniques produces results at an accelerated pace.
During a private session the body is supported, technique is monitored and adjusted and the impact of gravity is reduced. The spring resistance used in the Pilates equipment assists in increasing muscle tone definition, flexibility and even bone health.
Private sessions allow the focus to be solely on you! Attention to detail is a priority and exercise choice is continuously monitored to ensure that your form continues to improve.

History
In the 1920s, Joseph Pilates, looking for a way to rehabilitate soldiers injured in World War I, developed a sequence of 34 mat exercises designed to engage both the
mind and the body, resulting in physical awareness, flexibility, muscular strength, control, and coordination. Pilates also developed a series of apparatus that use springs to help stretch and
strengthen, and are unique in their ability to encourage the muscular coordination that stabilizes the body. Even though this technique was created 50 years ago, it continues to be among the latest practices for athletes, performing artists, persons in physical rehabilitation and exercise enthusiasts around the world today.
